In June 2026, nearly 1.9 million guests spent 4.3 million tourism nights at tourist (commercial, private and other) accommodation establishments. Tourist arrivals were down by 2.2% and tourism nights down by 2.5% in number compared to a year earlier. In January-June 2026, domestic arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments were 2.3% higher than a year earlier, while international arrivals declined by 0.2%

In June 2026 the number of tourist arrivals decreased by 2.2% overall, while that of tourism nights by 2.5% at tourist accommodation establishments. Based on seasonally adjusted data, the number of arrivals and tourism nights fell by 1.7% and 2.0% respectively compared to June 2025. 71% of guests arrived at commercial accommodation establishments, where their number grew by 2.3% from the previous year. Private and other accommodation establishments recorded 12% fewer tourist arrivals than a year earlier.

The number of domestic tourist arrivals and domestic tourism nights was 2.6% and 3.6% lower respectively than in the same month of the previous year. Based on seasonally adjusted data, the number of domestic arrivals grew by 1.4% and that of domestic tourism nights fell by 0.8% compared to June 2025. The 982 thousand domestic guests spent nearly 2.2 million tourism nights at tourist accommodation establishments, within which commercial accommodation establishments registered 695 thousand tourist arrivals and 1.5 million tourism nights. Hotels received 66% of the latter arrivals, where their number grew by 2.2% compared to a year earlier. The number of domestic tourist arrivals in private and other accommodation was 8.8% lower than in June 2025. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of domestic arrivals increased the most in the Győr and Pannonhalma tourism area (by 11%) and fell the most in the Sopron region (by 17%). The number of domestic arrivals to tourist accommodation establishments was 5.1% higher in Budapest and 1.9% lower at Lake Balaton.

The number of international tourist arrivals and international tourism nights fell by 1.8% and by 1.3% respectively compared to the same month of the previous year. Based on seasonally adjusted data, the number of international arrivals was unchanged and that of international tourism nights declined by 0.8% compared to June 2025. The 874 thousand international guests having arrived at tourist accommodation establishments spent 2.1 million tourism nights there, of which commercial accommodation establishments registered 628 thousand tourist arrivals and 1.5 million tourism nights. Hotels received 80% of the latter arrivals, where their number grew by 5.0% from a year earlier. The number of foreign tourist arrivals in private and other accommodation establishments was 15% lower than in June 2025. Compared to the same month last year, the number of international arrivals increased the most in the Sopron region (by 11%) and fell the most in the Szeged region (by 15%). In Budapest, the number of international arrivals at tourist accommodation was down 2.4%, while at Lake Balaton it was down 1.7%.

A total of 30,215 tourist accommodation establishments, within which 2,880 commercial and 27,335 private or other accommodation establishments welcomed guests.

Of commercial accommodation establishments, 1,033 hotels and 1,112 boarding houses were open for part or all of June.

The total gross sales revenue of tourist accommodation establishments amounted to HUF 107.7 billion, 0.5% less at current prices than a year earlier.

Széchenyi Recreation Card was used by cardholders to spend nearly HUF 3.4 billion, 14% less at current prices compared to the same month of the previous year, at tourist accommodation establishments.

In January-June 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Tourist accommodation establishments recorded a total of 8.3 million arrivals, up 1.0%.

The number of domestic and international arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments increased by 2.3% and fell by 0.2% respectively, with both figures reaching nearly 4.2 million.
