The Traffic Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) notifies the general public, particularly motorists, that Balthazar Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from Monday, 7 September 2026 until further notice.

This closure is necessary to facilitate the restoration of the bridge undertaken by the Grenada Resilience Improvement Project.

To facilitate this closure, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented:

Alternative Routes

• All vehicles travelling from St George’s towards the direction of Grenville will make a right turn onto Upper Capitol, through St James and exit onto Grand Bras Public Road
• All vehicles travelling from Grenville towards Birchgrove will make a right turn onto St Cloud Public Road, through Bylands, and exit onto La Force
• Zone 6 bus operators will be allowed to use both diversion routes to and from Grenville

NB: Heavy equipment vehicles and machinery are restricted from passing through the alternative routes and are advised to use the Eastern Main Road.

All motorists are asked to follow all posted signs and the directions of on-duty traffic wardens.

The Royal Grenada Police Force apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and anticipates the cooperation and compliance of all road users.
