Nexa Credit Union expands reach with new branch in Gouyave

Nexa Credit Union is proud to announce the official opening of its newest branch in Gouyave, St John, marking another significant milestone in the credit union’s commitment to providing accessible, member-focused financial services across Grenada.

The new branch becomes the 6th location in the credit union’s growing network and reflects the organisation’s ongoing mission to bring quality financial services closer to members and communities throughout the island. Guided by the promise, WITH YOU, wherever your road leads, the credit union continues to invest in communities and ensure that members can conveniently access the products, services and financial support they need.

The establishment of the St John branch is a direct response to the needs of members and residents in the parish and surrounding communities. By creating a stronger physical presence in the area, the credit union aims to enhance accessibility, foster deeper community engagement and support the economic well-being of individuals, families and businesses.

Speaking at the launch ceremony at St Francis Street in Gouyave on Tuesday, Retesha Smith-Boyd, General Manager of Nexa Credit Union, stated, “Our job, from the very first day, has been to make good financial services easy to reach for ordinary working people. This Gouyave office is the next step on that journey, joining our network of branches across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The town that never sleeps now has a credit union that is wide awake to its needs.”

As a financial cooperative, the credit union remains firmly grounded in the widely recognised cooperative philosophy of ‘People Helping People.’ Unlike traditional financial institutions, credit unions are owned by their members and operate with the goal of improving the financial lives of those they serve. The new branch represents more than a building; it is an investment in people, community development and financial empowerment.

Albert Andall, General Manager of the Grenada Cooperative League Limited, said, “These doors open today to a young person saving towards a dream, a small business ready to grow and a family working towards a home. Each deserves a fair opportunity to move forward.”

Alma Dubois-Calliste, a resident of the Gouyave community, expressed appreciation for the new branch. “With limited financial institutions serving our area, having another established institution within reach is particularly meaningful to residents and businesses alike. We also welcome the additional choice and opportunities that Nexa brings. Convenient access to financial services matters, especially for our elderly residents, small business operators, working families and those who may face transportation challenges when conducting their financial affairs.”

To celebrate the opening of the new branch, Nexa Credit Union is offering a 50% reduction on membership fees for all new accounts opened at the Gouyave Branch from 27–30 October 2026.

Prospective members are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time offer and become part of a financial institution that is committed to empowering members and strengthening communities.

Branch Operating Hours

After the launch ceremony, the Gouyave Branch officially commenced operations from 2 pm and closed at 4 pm. Thereafter, regular business hours will be:

  • Monday to Friday: 8 am to 4 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

The credit union invites members, residents, community leaders and stakeholders to visit the new location and experience the benefits of belonging to a member-owned financial cooperative dedicated to serving people at every stage of their financial journey.
