- Edwards’ talent presentation will address gender-based violence
- Grenada represented among 10 contestants
Kimora Edwards will represent Grenada at the 44th Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant in St Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday, 30 December 2026, fulfilling a childhood dream.
The 18-year-old was crowned the inaugural Miss Grenada Teen on 18 July after representing the parish of St Andrew in a field of 7 contestants. She won with 311.15 points and received 4 special awards: People’s Choice, Best Interview, Best Talent and First Impact. For Edwards, winning the national title was about more than receiving a crown; she hopes her achievement will encourage other teenagers to step outside their comfort zones and pursue their ambitions.
Edwards will compete against 9 other contestants representing St Vincent and the Grenadines, the British Virgin Islands, the US Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St Lucia, St. Croix, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and St Kitts and Nevis. This year’s competition follows the theme Radiant Treasures of the Caribbean, with each finalist expected to showcase a national treasure from her homeland. Edwards is keeping her selection a surprise, but revealed that her talent presentation will focus on gender-based violence. She said she was excited, although nervous, when she learned she would represent Grenada. Her aim is to carry the country’s culture and people with pride. “Grenada is a small island, but we have a large spirit,” she said.
Preparing for the regional competition while attending T A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) has required Edwards to manage her time carefully. Now in her second year, she studies English Literature, English Language and Business Management. Alongside her coursework and exams, she must prepare speeches and question-and-answer sessions for the pageant. She sat exams during the national competition, which taught her to balance school, pageantry and personal time. Edwards said her preparations are going well because representing Grenada is an opportunity she has long wanted, and she is committed to doing her best.
As Miss Grenada Teen Pageant first titleholder, Edwards is expected to serve as a youth ambassador, participating in community engagements, educational initiatives and charitable activities during her reign. She said organisers have contacted her about activities that will allow people to learn more about her beyond pageantry. Her support team for the regional competition includes her mother Tara Edwards, current chaperone Jamal Alexis, former chaperone Gariah Walker and Dr Keymal Williams, founder of the Miss Grenada Teen Pageant, who coordinated her participation in the regional competition.
Edwards also hopes to pursue teaching and eventually establish a company where young entrepreneurs can showcase their talents. For now, her attention is on representing Grenada at Haynes Smith, where she will follow 3 previous Grenadian winners: Natalie Isaac, who won in 1992 — the year Grenada first entered the competition, Cathisha Williams in 2004 and Nandy Noel in 2010. Edwards will have the opportunity to add her name to that history while presenting Grenada’s talent and culture alongside young women from across the Caribbean.
