The Ministry of Health & Medical Services and the Ministry of Fisheries have issued a public warning following confirmed sightings of box jellyfish in local waters, urging caution for those heading out to sea.

Authorities say the alert comes after several individuals required urgent medical attention and were admitted to the Hyperbaric Unit with breathing difficulties linked to ocean exposure.

Health officials stress that box jellyfish are highly venomous and pose a serious risk to swimmers, fishers, and anyone spending time in the water.

Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant while at sea and to treat the warning with urgency. Anyone who experiences unusual symptoms after ocean activities is strongly encouraged to seek immediate medical attention at the nearest health facility.
