PSC Strengthens Leadership Capacity

The Public Service Commission is stepping up efforts to enhance leadership and coordination across government, following a recent Leadership and Resilience Workshop attended by Permanent Secretaries.

The initiative is part of broader civil service reforms aimed at fostering more deliberate, accountable, and cooperative leadership at senior levels.

It also highlighted the vital role Permanent Secretaries play in turning government policies into tangible outcomes.

Commission Chairman Luke Rokovada said the PSC intends to build on the programme by expanding similar initiatives for senior officials.

He noted that future workshops may involve both local and international experts to share insights and strengthen leadership capacity.

While Permanent Secretaries remain responsible for leading their respective ministries, Rokovada stressed that the Commission’s role is to support and enable their performance by improving service delivery systems.

He also encouraged stronger collaboration across government agencies and with key partners, underscoring the importance of a unified approach to achieving national priorities.

The workshop concluded with a commitment to develop an outcome statement to guide next steps, alongside continued focus on leadership development and succession planning to maintain a capable and resilient public service.
