MBOMBELA – Eswatini musician Sancheziey is set to introduce his latest album, Umtfwana Welive, to audiences in South Africa this Saturday, using an exclusive listening session as a platform to celebrate Swati culture, identity and music beyond the country’s borders.
The listening session, which will take place in Mbombela, forms part of the launch of the Kusile Kwetfu Cultural Celebration Festival in partnership with Vunula Uhlobe Cultural. The event is expected to bring together music lovers, cultural enthusiasts and industry stakeholders for the first public experience of the new project.
Speaking ahead of the event, Sancheziey said he was filled with excitement and gratitude as he prepared to share an album he described as one of his most personal bodies of work.
“I’m feeling excited, grateful and humbled. Every project is personal, and this album carries a lot of my heart and my culture. Sharing it with people for the first time is a special moment because I finally get to see and hear their reactions,” he said.
The album, titled Umtfwana Welive, draws inspiration from Swati culture, heritage and identity. According to the artist, it aims to remind listeners of the importance of embracing their traditions while celebrating moments that bring communities together.
One of the standout tracks, Halala, is described as a celebration anthem that encourages people to take pride in who they are while honouring their cultural roots.
Unlike his previous releases, Sancheziey said the album embraces traditional Swati music more boldly, with authentic rhythms and storytelling that preserve the country’s musical heritage while remaining accessible to modern audiences.
“This project proudly represents where I come from. I wanted to create music that preserves our heritage while still connecting with today’s audiences,” he said.
The album also features collaborations with veteran singer Lodanda, MaCeleb, Young Zesh and the Limkokwing Choir. Produced by Emadlelweni Music, the project brings together experienced voices who share a common vision of celebrating Swati culture through music.
Sancheziey believes hosting the listening session in Mbombela is a significant career milestone, as it introduces his music to a broader regional audience while strengthening cultural ties between Eswatini and South Africa.
“As an artist from Eswatini, I want people across Southern Africa and beyond to experience the beauty of Swati music and traditions. Our stories and heritage deserve to be heard on bigger stages,” he said.
Following Saturday’s listening session, fans can look forward to music videos from the album and an upcoming regional tour as Sancheziey continues promoting Umtfwana Welive to audiences across Southern Africa.
