MANKAYANE– The Mankayane community came out in impressive numbers for the Mankayane Roadshow, turning the day into a colourful and energetic celebration of unity, pride, and patriotism in honour of 40 years of King Mswati III on the throne.
The event formed part of the nationwide build-up to the Ruby Celebrations, which mark four decades of His Majesty’s leadership as well as his 58th birthday. Residents from Mankayane and surrounding areas gathered in high spirits to celebrate the historic milestone and show their continued support for the King.
The atmosphere throughout the day was vibrant and festive, with entertainment and cultural performances keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish. The Eswatini Correctional Services Band set the tone with lively musical performances that created excitement and drew cheers from the audience.
Adding glamour and enthusiasm to the programme were the drum majorettes from Mankayane High School, whose energetic routines added colour and movement to the occasion. Spectators applauded their discipline and enthusiasm as they entertained the gathering.
A rich cultural performance by Ngcoseni Central High School also stood out, bringing heritage and tradition to the centre stage. Their performance celebrated Eswatini’s cultural identity and reminded attendees of the importance of preserving customs while celebrating national milestones.
Keeping the crowd energised throughout the event was master of ceremonies Sandile Dlamini, popularly known as “Sweet Banana”, whose lively interaction with the audience added humour and excitement to the programme.
The roadshow was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs in partnership with the Mankayane Town Board as part of the nationwide awareness campaign leading to the main celebrations. Similar roadshows have been held in other towns and communities across the country to mobilise emaSwati and build excitement ahead of the big day.
Community members described the turnout as a clear demonstration of Mankayane’s unity and pride. Many said the event reflected the spirit of togetherness that has characterised the celebrations across the country.
As the countdown to the national festivities continues, Mankayane’s strong showing has added fresh momentum to the celebrations, proving that the community did not merely attend—it arrived with pride, energy, and patriotic spirit.
