Egypt, Saudi Arabia urge regional de-escalation to protect energy security and trade

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed the necessity of reducing current regional escalation to preserve Middle East stability, warning of the tension’s impact on energy security, supply chains, and global trade.

The leaders’ remarks came during a phone call on Thursday, according to a statement by Egyptian presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy.

Addressing regional security, Sisi emphasised a “shared destiny” between the two nations, declaring that the security of Saudi Arabia and other Arab states is an extension of Egyptian national security.

The Saudi Crown Prince praised the close coordination between Cairo and Riyadh aimed at achieving peace and stability in the Middle East. He highlighted the importance of intensifying bilateral coordination across various fields, including the exchange of high-level visits.

During the discussion on bilateral relations, Sisi affirmed the importance of continuing to advance cooperation to serve common interests, meet the developmental aspirations of both peoples, and improve conditions in the region.

The call also included Sisi extending congratulations ahead of the upcoming Saudi National Day. The Egyptian president wished the kingdom continued stability and prosperity under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince.

In response, Mohammed bin Salman expressed his appreciation for the remarks and reaffirmed the historic and brotherly ties between the two countries.
