HŽ Passenger Transport has announced that it will introduce seasonal night train services connecting continental Croatia with Dalmatia this summer.
The services will operate every night from Saturday, 27 June until Saturday, 29 August, providing direct overnight connections between Vukovar, Osijek, Zagreb and Split.
One route will run from Vukovar via Vinkovci and Zagreb Main Station to Split. The train will depart Vukovar at 18:44, leave Vinkovci at 19:19 and Zagreb Main Station at 00:46, arriving in Split at 08:49.
The return service will depart Split at 21:37, arriving at Zagreb Main Station at 06:04, Vinkovci at 10:29 and Vukovar at 10:49.
A second overnight route will operate from Osijek via Bjelovar and Zagreb Main Station to Split. It will depart Osijek at 18:44, leave Bjelovar at 23:06 and Zagreb Main Station at 00:46, before arriving in Split at 08:49.
The return journey from Split will depart at 21:37, reaching Zagreb Main Station at 06:39, Bjelovar at 08:13 and Osijek at 12:15.
Passengers travelling to Šibenik will also be able to use the services, changing trains at Perković station.
HŽ has reduced ticket prices for trains to coastal destinations by 40%. Travellers on the night services can choose between sleeping carriages and seated carriages. A supplementary charge applies for the use of a berth in sleeping carriages.
Seat reservations are compulsory for all passengers, including those entitled to free rail travel.
Children, school pupils, full-time students, pensioners, people aged over 65 and persons with disabilities can travel free of charge under Croatia’s public rail transport schemes.
In addition to the night services, four daytime trains will operate daily between Zagreb and Split from 27 June until 30 August. Connections to Šibenik will also be available via Perković.
Day trains will depart Zagreb at 07:08 and 13:49, while departures from Split are scheduled for 07:54 and 14:10.
