Information Ministry revokes licences of two media outlets for violating press law

The Ministry of Information has revoked the press licences of two media outlets for violations of the Kingdom’s Press Law, saying the decisions were made in accordance with legal procedures and that the cases are proceeding through the judicial process.

The revoked licences belong to Chheang Tharith, owner of the Khmer Phakdey website, which operates at www.kpd-news.com, and Chhay Socheat, owner of the CBN TV Online website, available at www.cbntvonline.com.

The ministry stated that violations of the Press Law require strict measures to maintain order and uphold professional journalistic ethics.

The action reflects the ministry’s commitment to ensuring accuracy, accountability and compliance with applicable laws among media organisations operating in Cambodia.

The ministry also called on all media owners to comply with the Press Law and professional codes of ethics, stressing the importance of contributing to the development of a quality and trustworthy information sector.
