Khuon Phon Rattanak, Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, met with Kim Changsoon, Director-General of Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water), on the sidelines of the 4th Mekong-Korea International Water Forum in Seoul to discuss ways to strengthen and expand cooperation in water resources, energy and environmental management.
The meeting was held alongside the forum, which was organised under the theme “Climate Resilience through Digital Water Management in the Mekong Region,” at the Westin Josun Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Cambodian Government and K-Water, focusing on Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects in water resources, energy and the environment, and efficient and sustainable water management.
They also exchanged views on the progress and future direction of ODA development cooperation, particularly the use of Korean digital technologies and technical expertise to support Cambodia in improving water resource management.
Kim reaffirmed K-Water’s continued interest in strengthening cooperation with Cambodia and invited the ambassador to visit K-Water’s headquarters in Daejeon to learn about the company’s activities and experience and discuss potential areas for future cooperation.
Ambassador Rattanak congratulated and thanked the Korean Government and K-Water for their continued support and cooperation in Cambodia’s water resources sector.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining ODA cooperation, particularly through knowledge and technology transfer, institutional capacity development and strengthening Cambodia’s human resources.
Both sides expressed their commitment to strengthen the Cambodia-South Korea development partnership and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
The partnership will contribute to improved water resource management, climate change adaptation and the development of sustainable water-resource infrastructure in Cambodia.
