Young Bosnian Muhamed Kaloper, is the Champion of the Balkans

The young karate player from Gorazde, Muhamed Kaloper, won a gold medal at the Balkan Championship in Istanbul, where he performed with the karate national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 12-year-old Kaloper is a member of the “Perfekt Sarajevo” Martial Arts Club, and he won a valuable award at this prestigious competition after five successful matches.

“I am a representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the third year in a row. This year I did extremely well in the competition and won first place. The first match I had against the Turkish national team, the second against Bulgaria, then North Macedonia, then a competitor from BiH and the fifth match and the final against Croatia. The third match against the Bulgarian national team was very demanding, where I lost 2:0, but then I came back and won 6:5. It was close, but I remained calm and succeeded,” said Kaloper.

A new competition awaits him soon, and then a well-deserved summer break.

“The next competitions are the Perfekt Glory Cup, so there will be a summer break, and then preparations and work again, to achieve the same goal next year,” says Kaloper.

At the Balkan Karate Championship for children in Istanbul, with the BiH national team, karate players from Gorazdan clubs also performed: Medina Bešlija, Ajša Maličević and Danin Rogo (KK Special) and Irfan Hadžimešić and Ajla Peštek (KK Holiday), who also represented the clubs and the state of BiH with dignity.

The title of Balkan champion went to Medina Bešlija, a member of KK Special – Sarajevo section.

Karate team of Bosnia and Herzegovina took fourth place overall.
