Love Stronger Than Fame: Sejda Leaves This World Eight Months After Halid Beslic

Eight months after Halid Bešlić left us, his wife Sejda also passed away.

It is difficult to describe their love in words, and perhaps Halid himself best captured it. Although he sang dozens of timeless hits during his career, he often told his friends: “Sejda is my greatest song.”

There was at least a little bit of Sejda in every one of Bešlić’s songs about love and longing. It is no coincidence that the last song Halid released before his death was titled Sejda.

“You are still young as you once were, Sejda,
You are still beautiful as on that day,
When you were a silken nest next to me,
When you gave me your heart.”

Although she rarely appeared in public, Sejda was his harbor of peace and support throughout his life. She was by his side in the most beautiful and most difficult moments after a serious car accident, in the years that brought new challenges and when the spotlight was going out.

As they spent their entire lives together, Halid and Sejda will be buried next to each other. Many believed that Halid should rest in the Alley of the Greats, but the legendary singer wanted otherwise.

He wanted his Sejda to be next to him in Bare. In doing so, he once again showed how much he loved her and how much their love, loyalty and togetherness were greater than any glory. May they have eternal peace, Radio Sarajevo writes.
