SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Memorial Day weekend got off to a violent start in South Los Angeles on Saturday. Los Angeles police are investigating a triple shooting with two people killed.
Los Angeles police responded to a multi-victim shooting scene around 6:40 p.m. at Dalton Avenue and Florence Avenue.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, LAPD said. A third victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
It’s an expansive scene, with activity around the area of the shooting and nearby where the suspect(s) reportedly ditched their getaway car and tried to flee on foot.
The suspect(s) apparently didn’t make it far. LAPD’s search was confined to just a few blocks south of Florence Avenue in the Manchester Square neighborhood. LAPD’s air support had been circling the area, searching for the suspect(s).
About an hour and a half after the shooting, Eyewitness News spotted a man in handcuffs being placed in the back of a police cruiser. About an hour after that, crews got word of a second suspect being taken into custody.
There appeared to be at least one more person wanted by police, with the search still active at 10 p.m.
The Eyewitness News crew at the scene has gotten conflicting reports on whether or not the outstanding suspect(s) have left the area.
LAPD has not confirmed any arrests.
