ICAPP Seoul Declaration incorporates Cambodia’s key proposals, CPP says

The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) said proposals put forward by its delegation on rebuilding international trust, promoting cooperation and respecting sovereignty had been incorporated into the Seoul Declaration adopted at the 13th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in South Korea.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the CPP said the assembly unanimously adopted the declaration, reaffirming Asian political parties’ commitment to rebuilding trust through dialogue, cooperation, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law.

The November 4-7 assembly in Seoul, held under the theme “Rebuilding Trust in a Transforming World”, brought together approximately 300 participants representing 83 political parties, diplomatic missions and international organisations from 36 countries.

The CPP delegation was led by Suos Yara, Vice-Chairman of the ICAPP Standing Committee and Chairman of the ICAPP-ACC Cambodia Working Group, following his appointment by CPP President Hun Sen.

The Cambodian delegation called for greater inclusiveness and neutrality in international affairs, stronger alignment between commitments and practical implementation, and decisive action to achieve tangible results, according to the statement.

It also highlighted Asia’s cultural diversity and tourism potential, advocating stronger cooperation through creative industries, partnerships between historic cities and digital technologies.

The assembly further called on political parties to strengthen links between governments, parliaments and citizens, while reaffirming support for ICAPP as a platform for promoting diplomacy and bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, the 8th Meeting of the ICAPP Media Forum, held under the theme “Media’s Role in Rebuilding Trust”, adopted the Seoul Statement, highlighting the importance of media freedom and independence and the responsible use of artificial intelligence to combat misinformation and strengthen public trust in the media.

The CPP also congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on its selection to host the 14th ICAPP General Assembly in 2028.
