Holness says Brown Burke shoved her; MP labels claim false

House Speaker Juliet Holness is accusing South West St. Andrew MP Dr. Angela Brown Burke, of shoving her and calling her a coward as she left the chamber after Tuesday’s sitting of the House of Representatives.

Dr. Brown Burke denies she shoved the speaker.

The incident unfolded moments after the House was adjourned on Tuesday.

Video footage shows Dr. Brown Burke standing in the aisle separating the Government and Opposition benches as the Speaker walked down it.

Their shoulders collided as Mrs. Holness passed.

Dr. Brown Burke can also be seen speaking to the Speaker as the two came into contact.

But it is unclear from the footage what was said.

Speaking with Nationwide News, Mrs. Holness says yes that she was shoved.

She says she did not respond but instead laughed, and it was then that she was called a coward.

But Dr. Brown Burke categorically denies shoving the Speaker.

She told Nationwide that any such claim is a lie!

However, Dr. Brown Burke does admit to having whispered to the Speaker that she was a coward.

The encounter came just moments before a separate altercation between North West Manchester MP, Mikael Phillips, and West Kingston MP, Desmond McKenzie, also following the adjournment.
