CPP Central Committee member Neth Pheaktra has urged commune councillors in Kratie province to deliver tangible results for residents, stressing that their performance and public service are crucial to maintaining public trust and the party’s electoral support.
Pheaktra, who heads the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) working group for Kratie province, made the remarks during a meeting with commune council candidates in Prek Prasab district ahead of next year’s Commune/Sangkat Council Elections.
He called on commune and village chiefs and councillors to encourage eligible residents to register to vote and urged party officials to expand membership and strengthen their grassroots presence.
Prek Prasab district has eight communes and 33,598 registered party members, according to figures provided at the meeting. The district has 41,559 eligible registered voters.
“We have to increase the party members,” Pheaktra said.
He said the CPP had led the country through democratic national and sub-national elections, emphasising the importance of maintaining close ties with the public.
“We were born by the people, with the people and for the people,” he said.
Pheaktra also urged officials to perform their duties responsibly and deliver tangible improvements, including road development and better local services.
He said residents would assess commune councillors based on their activities and contributions to their communities, adding that officials’ performance was important to the party’s success.
“The good deeds of officials are the strength of victory,” he said.
The sixth-mandate Commune/Sangkat Council Elections will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2027, across 1,652 communes and sangkats nationwide.
