Cambodia aims to guarantee universal access to safe, adequate food and protect citizens from all forms of malnutrition by 2030, Prime Minister Hun Manet announced yesterday.
In a message marking the 13th National Nutrition Day, held under the theme “Investing in Nutrition is Investing in People”, Mr Hun Manet stressed that food security and nutrition are essential for human capital development, workforce efficiency, sustainable economic growth and social progress.
While noting significant progress over the past two decades through cross-sectoral collaboration, the prime minister acknowledged ongoing challenges, including stunting, wasting, micronutrient deficiencies, anaemia, overweight and obesity, alongside related non-communicable diseases.
To address these persistent issues, the government has set specific 2030 targets to reduce stunting among children under 5 to under 19% and wasting to under 6%. Xinhua
