The changes is intended to clarify inspection standards, strengthen allergen disclosure requirements and other steps the city hopes will allow people to better trust where they eat.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The City of Albuquerque’s Environmental Health Department is proposing changes to the food safety rules.
The city stated this would clarify inspection standards, strengthen allergen disclosure requirements and update permitting procedures for local restaurants. Some of these changes will include having more transparent inspection grades, updated food handling and temperature requirements – plus a more flexible schedule for pre-opening inspections.
Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller stated the city hopes these changes will give businesses the tools to thrive. They also hope residents will feel more confident in where they eat.
