President of the Jamaica Football Federation, JFF, Michael Ricketts says FIFA’s decision to award the United States hosting rights for the inaugural Women’s Club World Cup reflects the governing body’s confidence in CONCACAF’s ability to stage major international football events.
The 19-team tournament, which is designed to mirror the revamped men’s Club World Cup, is scheduled to take place from January 5 to 30, 2028.
The competition will be held every four years.
The United States hosted the men’s Club World Cup in 2025 and co-hosted the men’s FIFA World Cup this summer alongside Mexico and Canada.
The country will have another major hosting assignment in 2031, when it is scheduled to co-host the Women’s World Cup with Costa Rica, Jamaica and Mexico.
Ricketts believes the decision further reinforces the CONCACAF region’s growing reputation as a destination for major football tournaments.
