The endgame is almost here for “American Horror Story: 13,” and after last week’s devilish double feature rewrote more than a decade of Langdon family history, the Coven is staring down an even bigger supernatural threat.

Spoiler: What happened in ‘American Horror Story’ episodes 9 and 10?

Major spoilers ahead.

Episode 9, “The Devil Is in the Details,” finally began pulling apart the mystery surrounding Mr. Nas.

Constance met Nas at the Apollyon and made demands concerning the world he intended to create. Nas countered by confronting her with her own violent history, including deeds stretching back to “Murder House.” The encounter led to the episode’s biggest revelation: When Constance proposed becoming his queen, Nas told her that he was actually her father.

Ben simultaneously investigated the mysterious 616 mark on his body. His search uncovered buried childhood memories involving Satanic rituals and Nas, giving his lifelong fear of the number 13 a much darker context. Ben eventually confronted his patient, only for the younger Nas to reveal another bombshell: Ben was also his son, making Ben and Constance part of the same infernal family tree.

Episode 10, “The Prodigal Son,” shifted much of its attention back to the Coven. Papa Legba and Marie Laveau helped the witches uncover the history driving Satan’s plan and a wager with God, turning what had initially seemed like another apocalypse into a much older supernatural conflict.

In other words, season 13 had moved well beyond its original creepy-penthouse setup by the end of episodes 9 and 10. Each revelation set up the season’s final stretch around Ben’s true identity, the Devil’s plan, and the witches’ attempt to prevent another potentially world-ending catastrophe.
