Spoiler: What happened in ‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 28, episode 2?
The Oct. 15 episode, titled “Midway,” centered on a family desperately searching for their missing son after he disappeared from a carnival. The investigation led Curry and the SVU team toward a connection with an older abduction, creating a tragic and increasingly complicated case that forced Benson to weigh justice against compassion.
Mary Steenburgen made a guest appearance as Grace Rinato, a character who admitted to covering up her daughter’s murder.
“Midway” followed the season 28 premiere, “Volition,” which tackled a sexual-assault case complicated by conflicting accounts over consent and the survivor’s level of intoxication. The case ultimately resulted in a mistrial. The premiere also introduced J. Smith-Cameron’s Gwen Sharpe, a jury consultant who advised Benson on the pitfalls surrounding the case.
