Albuquerque man accused of killing woman over motorcycle changes plea

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man who allegedly killed a woman over a motorcycle in Albuquerque changed his plea from not guilty to no contest in court Thursday.

Police said that in July 2025, Nicholas Lucio and two other men were accused of confronting Ann Marie Chaires at a southeast Albuquerque apartment complex on Madeira Drive, after the group claimed she sold one of their motorcycles.

Court documents say that after Chaires was asked to get the motorcycle back, she refused, which led to one of the men shooting and killing her.

Lucio entered an agreement in which he pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary. He will be sentenced at a later date.
