Shari May Lippert Pettys passed away peacefully at her home in Jamestown, ND, on October 19, 2026.

Born in Elgin on August 21, 1958, to Theodore and Sharon Lippert, Shari grew up on a farm near New Leipzig, ND. She graduated from Bottineau College with degrees in Medical Technology and Greenhouse Floral, where she met her husband, Rod.

Shari was proud of her varied careers, which included working her way through college as a server at a steakhouse, logging with the U.S. Forest Service, working as a med passer at the North Dakota State Hospital, and finally serving as a paraprofessional at Washington School in Jamestown. As a para, she worked with children who were as dear to her as her own. She retired in 2023 after 22 years of service.

Shari’s passion for people filled her everyday life as she hosted and visited her many friends and family members. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them her skills in cooking, ceramic pottery, sewing, and other crafts.

Shari is survived by her husband of 43 years, Rodney “Rod” Elmer Pettys; her children, Shane, Angela, and Quentin (Cassie) Pettys; her grandchildren, McKenna, Kayden, Norah, and Eleanor Pettys; her siblings, Sarah Lippert-Mayer (Alan), Timothy “Tim” Lippert, and Cynthia “Cindy” Dutke; her beloved aunt and uncle, Sandi Fuchs and Delbert Lippert; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, her parents, and her cherished friend, Tillie Emineth.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 25, at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.

Arrangements are by Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
