Lands identified on Mountain View Avenue to relocate Burger Gully residents

Member of Parliament for East Kingston and Port Royal, Phillip Paulwell says suitable lands have been identified on Mountain View Avenue to facilitate the relocation of residents in the flood-prone Burger Gully community.

For decades, Burger Gully residents have endured severe and persistent flooding during periods of heavy rainfall.

The rising waters frequently overflow the gully banks, destroying homes, furniture, appliances and vehicles, while forcing families to evacuate repeatedly.

Speaking with our news centre months ago, residents expressed mixed reactions to the relocation plans.

But, MP Paulwell says he’s managed to convince majority of the affected residents to agree to the move.
