LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Perri Tidwell’s 10 strikeouts helped silence Neumann Bishop’s offense in Kearney Catholic’s 3-0 win to claim the Class C state title at Bowlin Stadium on Monday afternoon.
I’m insanely overjoyed in the team and all of the girls who have put in so much time and effort into this team,” third baseman Claire Damratowski said. “It’s been an amazing feeling to know that we all worked so hard for this moment, and the hard work pays off.”
Junior Kynlee Ruyle sparked Kearney’s offense in the third inning with a single she stretched into an extra-base. Freshman Jersey DeVall would follow with a double down the left field line that scored the first run of the game.
With a 3-0 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning, Neumann Bishop loaded the bases, attempting to erase the shutout, but Tidwell notched the punchout to crown Kearney Catholic state champions. They ended the season with a 26-3 record.
