Gov. Pillen signs executive order aimed at helping fuel shortages in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — With recent reports of fuel shortages throughout Nebraska, Gov. Jim Pillen signed an executive order on Oct. 19.

The executive order builds on a federal waiver that relaxes the hours-of-service requirements for fuel truck drivers.

Pillen’s executive order will additionally allow vehicles to exceed weight limits by up to 10%.

“A combination of factors, including global supply disruptions and the incredibly short and busy harvest season, has boosted demand across the board,” Pillen said. “This order will help ensure that Nebraska farmers, businesses and families have access to the fuel they need.”

The executive order is effective through Nov. 18.
