Former NBA G League basketball affairs executive takes over Delaware’s basketball operations as the Blue Coats prepare to open the 2026-27 season Nov. 6 in Wilmington.

WILMINGTON, Del. — The Philadelphia 76ers have named Brad Jones general manager of the Delaware Blue Coats, placing an experienced NBA G League executive in charge of the organization’s Wilmington-based developmental affiliate.

Jones will also serve as a 76ers pro scout. He becomes the seventh executive to lead the Blue Coats’ basketball operations department during the program’s 14-year history.

Jones spent the past eight years working in the NBA G League office, most recently as basketball affairs and player personnel lead. His responsibilities included player personnel, contracts, transactions and other basketball operations matters.

“Brad possesses a tremendous knowledge of the game and has natural leadership capabilities and a wealth of experience that will position him well as the next Blue Coats general manager,” 76ers President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey said in the team’s announcement. “He’s a great addition to our organization and well respected throughout the league. We’re happy to have him on our side.”

Jones helped assemble the NBA G League United team that won the 2026 FIBA Intercontinental Cup championship in Beijing this summer.

Experience From the NBA and G League

Before joining the G League office, Jones worked as a consultant for USA Basketball after spending eight seasons in scouting and video positions with the Orlando Magic.

His time in Orlando also overlapped with current 76ers executive Jameer Nelson, who played for the Magic and previously served as general manager of the Blue Coats.

Jones earned a law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law and a master’s degree from the University of Florida.

He succeeds Ariana Andonian, who left the Blue Coats last month to become general manager of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.

Blue Coats Promote Marchesani

The organization also promoted CJ Marchesani to assistant general manager of the Blue Coats.

Marchesani spent the previous four seasons working in the 76ers scouting department. Before joining the Sixers organization, he served as director of recruiting for AMR Talent Agency.

The personnel moves come as the Blue Coats continue their role as a development program for the 76ers while competing independently for an NBA G League championship.

Season Begins Nov. 6

Delaware will open its 2026-27 season with back-to-back home games against the Capital City Go-Go on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, at Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington. Sixteen of the Blue Coats’ 24 home games are scheduled for weekends this season.

The Blue Coats won the 2022-23 NBA G League championship and previously captured the 2021 Winter Showcase championship.
