Cambodia should continue using international forums to present its position and explain its views on border issues with Thailand to the international community, said Seun Sam, an international policy analyst at the Royal Academy of Cambodia.
Sam said international forums provide Cambodia with opportunities to communicate its position, concerns and commitment to other countries, particularly as it addresses border issues with Thailand.
He said multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations bring together member states from around the world, giving Cambodia opportunities to explain its concerns and position and help other countries better understand its perspective on the border issue.
Sam said Cambodia should communicate its position clearly and consistently so that the international community can better understand its views and the diplomatic process the country is pursuing.
He added that diplomacy is not a one-time effort or something limited to major international events, but requires sustained engagement to protect national interests, ensure Cambodia’s position is well understood and convey its messages effectively on the international stage.
