A meeting was held today at the Tripoli headquarters of the Libya Trade Network (LTN).
The meeting brought together several scheduled international shipping companies operating in Libya and the Chairmen of the Boards of Directors of both the LTN and the Libyan Ports Company. LTN, part of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, is the entity operating the new system.
The meeting was organised to discuss observations and inquiries regarding the operation of the new mandatory Unified Trade System (PTS) system.
LTN said this initiative aimed to strengthen communication with partners and stakeholders and to address their feedback regarding the functioning of the PTS (Logistics Sector/E-Logistics).
Attendees included representatives from:
· Mediterranean Shipping Company (Agent for MSC)
· Amwaj Libya Shipping Company (Agent for CMA)
· Tripoli Shipping Company (Agent for Messina)
· In addition to delegates from the Libyan Ports Company and the Libya Trade Network.
During the meeting, the PTS system and its operational workflow were reviewed in detail. A comprehensive explanation was provided regarding the mechanisms and procedures for submitting vessel arrival notifications and cargo manifests, as well as data integration among relevant entities. These measures are designed to facilitate foreign trade and accelerate logistics operations at Libyan ports.
The floor was also opened for shipping company representatives to present their observations and inquiries regarding the system’s use. Views and proposals were exchanged to refine operational mechanisms and improve service quality, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and mitigating challenges faced by system users.
Emphasis was placed on finalizing development and operational testing for the transmission of shipment data in XML format via the Unified Trade System (PTS)—in accordance with shipping agency requirements—as well as completing the implementation of this process at the ports of Tripoli and Al-Khoms and arranging for the issuance of a relevant circular by the Libyan Ports Company.
