Opposition Spokesperson on Finance, Julian Robinson, is rejecting what he says is Portfolio Minister, Fayval Williams’s claim that things are getting better.

Robinson is reacting to the minister’s statement that the economy is recovering significantly faster than expected following the passage of Hurricane Melissa last October.

An elated Fayval Williams told Jamaicans on Wednesday that the country’s economy was bouncing back faster than expected post Hurricane Melissa.

She pointed out that Jamaica had exceeded the Planning Institute of Jamaica’s original predictions for the country to get back to pre-Melissa numbers by six quarters.

According to Minister Williams, the recovery is evidenced by improved macro figures.

But Julian Robinson says the Minister’s positive words are a cover up recent economic failures by the government post-Melissa.

Robinson notes that despite the minister’s claims of quicker recovery, Jamaicans are continuing to suffer from rising costs.
