Delegation from Mongolia attends 70th session of IAEA General Conference

AKIPRESS.COM – A delegation from Mongolia led by Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Office Munkhtur Dorjraa is participating in the 70th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna on September 14-18, Montsame reported.

Permanent Representative Munkhtur delivered a statement during the General Debate of the conference.

He emphasized the importance of using nuclear energy for peace, health and sustainable development at a time when the international community is facing numerous challenges.

He also highlighted the role and importance of the IAEA and reaffirmed Mongolia’s longstanding commitment to nuclear non-proliferation and to building a world free of nuclear weapons.

The current session of the IAEA General Conference is discussing a range of issues related to international peace and security, including strengthening safeguards against the proliferation of nuclear weapons worldwide and ensuring the safety and security of nuclear sites and facilities, as well as radiation safety, during armed conflicts.
