Known violence producer Archibald Duwar was one of three people fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police in Constant Spring, St Andrew early Sunday morning.
The other deceased are Davion Byfield of Frazers Content, Spanish Town, St. Catherine and a woman who has not yet been identified.
Reports are, a team of police personnel from the St Andrew North division was trailing a motor vehicle suspected of being involved in recent robberies across the corporate area.
The police team reportedly attempted to intercept the vehicle on Knightdale drive, Kingston 8 at about 2 am when one of the occupants brandished a firearm and pointed it at the police.
In response, the police opened fire.
The vehicle was subsequently searched and three occupants, two males and a female were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
All three individuals were transported to the hospital for medical treatment, but were subsequently pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the police say Duwar is aligned to the Speculation gang based in St Elizabeth.
According to the police, Duwar was a known enforcer in the gang.
The gang was reportedly connected to several murders, shootings, robberies and break-ins in Speculation, Black River and as far as Denham Town and Cross Roads in Kingston.
Duwar is said to have lived in Junction, St Elizabeth, but also frequented Mountain View Avenue in Kingston 3 and Denham Town, Kingston 14.
