Minister of Education Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon says one of the children who was severely injured by a boulder while travelling to school in Breadnut Walk, St. Elizabeth on Friday is in a coma.

Dr Morris Dixon visited the University Hospital of the West Indies, UHWI, on Saturday where the child is being treated in the intensive care unit.

Senator Morris Dixon says the Ministry of Education will give support to the two other students who were also injured as well as to the wider school community.

The three children were walking along a train track in Breadnut Walk in the north western area of the parish at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, commanding officer for the St. Elizabeth Police Division, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, also visited the UHWI on Saturday.

Superintendent Minto says of the other two injured children, one suffered a head injury.

Superintendent Minto says it’s important that support is given by the relevant stakeholders.
