Benghazi – The first passenger voyage from the Jaliyana Free Zone port to Turkey set sail Friday aboard the “GOTHICA” ship, operated by South Mediterranean Company.

Raed Ali Al-Zarqa, head of the Customs Media Department, said the new maritime route aims to strengthen sea transport and connect Libya with regional and international partners. He noted the trip takes about two days.

Al-Zarqa added that the route will facilitate travel for citizens, promote tourism and economic exchange, and open new opportunities for investment in maritime transport. It also provides more travel options and helps ease pressure on other transportation modes.
