Turkmen Foreign Minister Meredov and CIS Secretary General discuss cooperation

AKIPRESS.COM – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a meeting with CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the 111th meeting of the CIS Economic Council.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on current issues on the CIS agenda. Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the Commonwealth in 2026, as well as preparations for upcoming events at high and the highest levels.

The sides also discussed preparations for the meetings of the CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the CIS Council of Heads of State, planned to be held on 7 and 9 October 2026, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. In this regard, organizational aspects of the upcoming high-level events and the content of their agendas were discussed.

The sides also considered further improvement of cooperation mechanisms within the Commonwealth, with particular attention to expanding practical cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
