Tripoli – The French Embassy in Libya has hailed the reopening of the University of Benghazi as a significant milestone for higher education, youth, and the future of Libya. In a statement on its official website, the embassy congratulated the university on its reopening ceremony and wished students and faculty members success in the new phase.

The embassy described the event, organized by the Fund for the Development and Reconstruction of Libya, as an exceptional evening filled with hope. It emphasized the importance of the new stage in fostering knowledge, innovation, and cooperation.

The embassy also noted that France had supported mine clearance operations at the university’s campus in 2018 and 2019, after the site was damaged during the conflict. The French Embassy reaffirmed its wishes for success to the university community and highlighted the institution’s pivotal role in supporting the future of Libyan youth and higher education.
