Kyrgyzstan has secured the right to export raspberries, tayberries, and currants to China. Erlist Akunbekov, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, reported.

According to him, access to the Chinese market for these berries is being granted under agreements signed during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Kyrgyzstan.

Akunbekov noted that exporting goods from China is easier than bringing products into the country, as the Chinese market has strict requirements for imported goods. He said opening the market to Kyrgyz producers had required substantial work.

The minister urged farmers interested in exporting berries to contact the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry. The ministry said it would provide the necessary assistance.

Kyrgyzstan produces about 240,000 tons of fruit and berry products annually. The main producing regions are Issyk-Kul, Batken and Osh regions. The most common berry crops include strawberries, raspberries, currants and cherries.

In the first five months of this year, Kyrgyzstan exported more than 5,300 tons of fresh berries. The main export destinations were Russia and Kazakhstan.
