The government has identified lands that could potentially be used to accommodate occupants of Coopers Pen in Trelawny, whose homes were demolished earlier this month.

That’s according to Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness.

He visited Coopers Pen on Friday and spoke to some of the affected persons.

The demolition operation was carried out on August 11.

It was carried out against the backdrop of a long-running legal battle involving persons illegally occupying the land owned by New Falmouth Resorts Limited.

Approximately 20 homes were bulldozed, displacing more than 40 families.

Prime Minister Holness says grants will be provided for identified beneficiaries while the process to make them legal property owners continues to be developed.
