On August 29, Somon Air airline launched direct air service between the capitals of Tajikistan and Belarus. The new route was opened on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s State Independence, reports the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan.

It is noted that the opening of the new route will contribute to the development of economic, trade, tourism, and cultural ties between the countries, as well as facilitate travel for citizens.

In early August, Somon Air’s fleet was replenished with a new Boeing 737-8 MAX. Another aircraft of this type is planned to be received in September.

The company also intends to use the new aircraft to open new international routes. Among them are Dushanbe–Seoul, Dushanbe–Beijing, and Dushanbe–London.

The Civil Aviation Agency stated that it will continue working to expand international air service and develop Tajikistan’s transit and transport potential.
