Jamaica Empress have added former Australian Meg Lanning to their Women’s Caribbean Premier League roster ahead of their inaugural season in the tournament, set to bowl off on September 5.

Lanning retired from International cricket in 2023 and is a former Wisden female cricketer of the year.  

She also once held the record for the highest Individual score in Women’s T20 cricket when she hammered 133 off 63 deliveries against England in 2019. 

The right handed batter captained Australia to a record breaking 21 consecutive victories breaking the previous record held by Ricky Ponting’s men’s team between 2018 and 2021.

Atishai Mansingh, Head of operations for the Jamaica Empress, stated that despite this being the team’s debut season, they are aiming for the title.
