Olympian Juliet Campbell says the desire to see St Jago High School return to the top of the medal standings at the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships is a major reason behind her decision to return to her alma mater.

Campbell was recently appointed Director of Operations for St Jago’s track and field programme and has already set her sights on restoring the Monk Street institution to championship-winning status.

St Jago has enjoyed considerable success at the annual championships over the years.

The school’s boys captured the title on two occasions, in 1987 and 1993, while the girls were crowned champions four consecutive times between 1996 and 1999.

Although St Jago has remained a consistent top-10 finisher at Champs, Campbell believes the school should be competing for the ultimate prize.

Speaking on the Mr. Analyst podcast, Campbell said one of the immediate priorities is to put together a strong and experienced coaching team capable of developing the athletes and creating the structure necessary for sustained success.
