American Samoa Suspends Government-Funded Local Travel For Rest Of Fiscal Year

The American Samoa Department of Treasury has suspended all government-funded local travel for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2026, effective immediately.

The suspension, approved by Governor Pulaali’i, was announced in a memo dated August 25 to all directors, deputy directors, office heads, and agency managers.

Exempt from the suspension are court-appointed travel, official travel by the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, and grant-funded travel.

The memo, signed by Acting Treasurer Carri-Lee Magalei Tulafono and Budget Director HTC Tauaisafune Niualama Epenesa Taifane, encourages departments to use virtual meetings or other alternatives to travel whenever practical.
