Riga and Vilnius outpace Tallinn in flights due to market size

Tallinn Airport remains the Baltic region’s largest airport by revenue despite offering fewer direct destinations than some of its regional competitors, according to airport CEO Riivo Tuvike. The company generated €74 million in revenue last year, with aviation fees accounting for only around 30 percent as income is also generated through retail, parking, aircraft maintenance facilities and commercial property at Airport City.

Passenger traffic has meanwhile reached record levels this summer, supported by a wider choice of flights, lower ticket prices and continued strong demand for international travel. Tallinn Airport handled 384,000 passengers in July, 19 percent more than a year earlier, after setting new passenger records in both June and July.

The airport now expects to serve approximately 3.7–3.8 million passengers this year, marking a dramatic transformation from the early 1990s, when passenger numbers fell from 758,000 in 1991 to around 205,000 the following year.
