The Horry County Police Department is still  searching for a suspect wanted in connection to an alleged robbery at a bank in Myrtle Beach on Friday morning. 

Officers responded to the Conway National Bank at 9726 N. Kings Highway about 9 a.m. after reports that a hold-up alarm at the bank had been activated, according to a news release from the Horry County Police Department.

The report said that officers were updated by dispatch that a representative of the alarm company had spoken with a teller at the bank and that she had told them “no … we are not okay.”

Officers secured the scene upon arriving and spoke to witnesses, the report said.

A teller told officers that the suspect, described as a white male wearing dark clothing, a ball cap with an emblem and a surgical mask, entered the bank at approximately 9:02 a.m. through the bank’s rear door and approached the teller’s window, according to the report. 

The teller told officers that he then handed her a note that read “This is a robbery. No cops. No (expletive),” the report said. 

The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money and then he demanded the note back, the report said. The teller told officers that the man then exited the bank through the rear door. She reported that she noticed that the man was not wearing gloves and that he had touched the counter in front of her window and the door handle as he existed the bank, according to the report.

The report did not indicate when the teller activated the hold-up alarm, but another teller, who was assisting a customer at the drive up window and had her back to the first teller, answered the phone and spoke to the representative of the alarm company and saw the first teller visibly shaken and had made the statement “no … we are not okay.”

Other witnesses told officers that the suspect was seen on foot in the area prior to the robbery, the report said. It was unclear whether the suspect arrived at or left the area in a vehicle, according to the report.

The investigation remains ongoing and the Horry County Police Department is working to obtain additional surveillance images, which may provide clearer images of the suspect, according to the report.
