Amidst the continuously deteriorating weather conditions in Uttarakhand, the administration in Udham Singh Nagar district has taken precautionary measures. In view of the Meteorological Department’s forecast and the rising water levels in rivers caused by persistent rainfall in hilly regions, a decision has been made to keep all schools up to Class 12 closed in the district on August 21, 2026. Nitin Bhadauria, the District Magistrate and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, has issued an order to this effect.
In a forecast issued at 6:30 PM on August 20, 2026, the India Meteorological Department (Dehradun) predicted thunderstorms, lightning, and spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall across various parts of the state. Additionally, continuous rain in the mountainous districts has led to a rise in the water levels of rivers flowing through the district. Considering the potential risks to students commuting to and from school under these circumstances, the Udham Singh Nagar district administration decided to declare a holiday.

In light of the imminent danger to students attending school due to the aforementioned reasons, a holiday is declared for August 21, 2026 (Friday) for all students up to Class 12—across government, semi-government, and private schools—and for children registered at all Anganwadi centers within Udham Singh Nagar district.
