West Indies Under-19 Women’s coach, Ryan Austin, says the Cricket West Indies High Performance camp will provide valuable preparation as the team builds towards the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and Nepal in January 2027.
Twenty-two players, including Jamaicans Davehjah Brown and Brianna Plummer, have been selected for the camp, which Austin says will give the coaching staff an opportunity to assess the players and better understand their strengths and development needs.
Austin says the initial focus will be on evaluating the players’ skills and identifying areas that need to be strengthened.
He says the aim is to eventually place the players in specific roles that will best suit the needs of the team.
Austin believes the camp will also help the players prepare for the demands and pressure of playing at a World Cup.
He is also encouraged by the quality of players available for selection.
