A man who was previously listed among Jamaica’s most wanted was fatally shot in an alleged shoot-out with the police in St. James on Tuesday.
He is Anward Hinds, otherwise called ‘Kirkie’.
The shooting occurred in Westgate Hills.
The police considered Hinds a high-risk target.
He was previously arrested and charged in connection with the quadruple murder of four farmers, including two brothers, in the remote community of Claremont in St. Elizabeth, near New Market and Ginger Hill.
The killings occurred on May 27, 2015.
Hinds was among eight high-risk detainees who escaped from the Black River Police Station lock-up in June 2023.
He was subsequently listed among the country’s most wanted men.
