Manchester City have announced that Tijjani Reijnders has completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah.

The Dutchman leaves on a permanent deal after City accepted an offer of around £51million.

Reijnders spent just a single season at the Etihad Stadium, making 50 appearances and scoring seven goals after his £46.5m arrival from AC Milan last summer.

His departure continues a summer of upheaval at City following the departures of manager Pep Guardiola alongside senior players Rodri, John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Nathan Ake.

Reijnders, who helped City win a domestic cup double last season, told the club’s website: “I have been incredibly privileged to play for Manchester City, and I have relished every minute of my time here.

“To be part of the squad that won two such special trophies last season were both incredible experiences and achievements that I will savour forever.”

Reijnders’ exit could see City step up efforts to complete a deal for Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, while they continue to be linked with Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.

Elliot Anderson’s £116m arrival from Nottingham Forest has been City’s most significant signing this summer.

Reijnders will now join up with former Liverpool and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers at Al Qadsiah.

The Saudi club posted a welcome message which read: “Some signings just complete the picture. This one’s ours.”

City are expected to have a busy final two weeks in the transfer market, with new manager Enzo Maresca admitting that he wants to make new signings to strengthen his squad.

Maresca’s admission came after City were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Arsenal in the Community Shield in Cardiff on Sunday.

The eight-time Premier League champions are due to get their campaign underway on Sunday when they host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

City are then scheduled to face Crystal Palace and newly promoted Coventry City before the first Manchester derby of the season on 13 September.

Maresca will hope to have a stronger squad to pick from for that game as City aim to regain their Premier League crown after failing to win the league in each of the last two seasons.
